Governor Baker Orders Malden to Roll Back to Phase III, Step 1
Per the Governor’s COVID-19 Order No. 51, effective October 26, 2020, the City must revert back to Step 1 of Phase III of the Commonwealth’s reopening plan. 
As of last night, October 23, Malden has been designated a High Risk/Red Community for three consecutive weeks. Per the Governor’s COVID-19 Order No. 51, effective October 26, 2020, the City must revert back to Step 1 of Phase III of the Commonwealth’s reopening plan. 
 
What does this mean for Malden? 
 
The following types of businesses cannot operate during Step 1 of Phase III: 
• Obstacle courses and escape rooms. 
 
The following types of businesses must reduce capacity to 40% (currently 50%) when operating during step 1 of phase III: 
• Gyms 
• Libraries 
• Arcades 
• Lower-contact indoor and outdoor recreation activities. 
 
Additionally, outdoor gatherings in public settings are limited to 50 people from 100 people.
